TigerPACS for Mac OS X 10.4 ("Tiger")

Dear visitor!

Let me introduce you to the TigerPACS project!

Summary:
The aim of the TigerPACS newsgroup is to make the best use of the features already included by Apple in Tiger, create additional ones specific to DICOM image communication and archiving, and finally interconnect all of them in a lego-like fashion, as to get a DICOM and IHE conformant RIS/PACS configuration with an impressive and powerfull GUI, realized with as little specific programming as possible and easy to improve with new original functionalities.

Description:
The aim of the TigerPACS group is to get a DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine http://medical.nema.org/) and IHE (Integrating the Healthcare enterprise http://www.ihe.net/) conformant RIS (radiology information system) and PACS (picture archiving and communication system) system on Apple's upcoming operating system MacOS X 10.4, codenamed "Tiger".
The aim is to make the best use of the features already included by MacOS X 10.4. and create additional ones specific to DICOM image communication and archiving, and finally interconnect all of them in a lego-like fashion.
Of upmost importance is the "Spotlight" metadata search capabilities http://developer.apple.com/macosx/tiger/spotlight.html included in the operating system for which appropriate Spotlight Plug-ins need to be developed so as to have a full featured PACS.

To get a DICOM and IHE conformant RIS/PACS configuration as little specific programming as possible is aimed for. The Addressbook and Calender programs included with MacOS X are to be used. Considering the Spotlight technology, all of the data is already integrated within the MacOS.
